Giving Back

Did you know that before starting Summer Love Jewelry, I was as a high school Spanish teacher in Austin, Texas for 6 years?? In 2011 my husband and I moved to Puerto Rico, the island where my family is from and a place where I used to spend my childhood summers.

Being a teacher was meaningful work for me, I saw it as a way to give back to society and the greater good. Running a creative business has completely changed what my day-to-day life looks like, and with that, I have also shifted the ways in which I give back to my community.

If you’re interested in learning more about the organizations that I have worked with directly and/or supported through the sale of my jewelry, I share a list of them below.

Currently, I’m donating a portion of every sale of these Opal PR Charms to HJR Reefscaping (thanks to the recommendation of our friends at Isla Mar), a team of scientists working to save sick corals around Puerto Rico.
