Whether you're visiting Rincón for a day or a week, these are the things I love to do & would recommend if you're looking to slow down, be in nature & indulge in what this charming little town on the west coast of Puerto Rico has to offer.
1. Snorkel at Steps Beach - it's part of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. There are tide pools a short walk away from the main entry point into the water if you want to have a little privacy or a place for the smaller kids to play.
2. Paseo Comunitario - a path along the coastline near Steps Beach that has been reclaimed for the community to enjoy. A stroll amongst the palm trees & the open lots where the cows & donkeys graze feels peaceful & grounding.
3. Bosque Comunitario - an area just up from Maria's beach that has been adopted & nurtured by the community for all to enjoy. There are walking paths, lots of trees & areas to sit & appreciate nature.
4. Mojitos at the Lighthouse - the lighthouse has one of the best views of the ocean in Rincón. The mojitos are tasty & large. I usually ask for half the sugar. The lighthouse is a great place to meet up with friends, watch the sunset, and see whales during January to March (April is you're lucky). The kids love climbing the trees and riding their bikes. Take extra wipes or toilet paper in case you need to use the restrooms there.
5. Take a surf lesson - surfing is what originally brought outsiders to Rincón back in 1968 with the World Surfing Championships. There are lots of businesses and people who offer surf lessons in Rincón or offer board rentals. Search online to find the best one for you!

Katarina Sailing Charters - always a treat! You can go during the day & snorkel or go for a sunset sail. Spots fill up fast so call ahead to reserve your trip. The trips are all inclusive & provide drinks, food, and
the best service.
7. Yoga / pilates / beach barre - a little bit of self love is always a good idea. Check out the different studios around town or hire an instructor to come to you. There are lots of good ones! I'll be posting more about them soon.
8. Get a massage - speaking of self love... you deserve a massage! Sure you can do this anywhere, but there's nothing that makes you slow down and give your body the love that it needs like a good massage. There are a few people in Rincón who are well known for their massages. I'm working on a list to share, but give it a search and they're sure to come up for you.

Jewelry class at Summer Love - if you love the beach & want to try your hand at something new then this is the class for you! You must reserve your class at least a day in advance, so check out the schedule & don't miss out on what many people have told me was their favorite thing to do in Rincón.
10. Art walk in the plaza - the art walk has become the thing to do if you're a visitor in town on a Thursday. I used to have a table there for years before I opened my brick and mortar. It gets very busy! The shops and restaurants around the plaza stay open late and there is always a musical performance around 7pm - my favorite is "bomba" which usually takes place the 3rd Thursday of every month. The artists & vendors set up around 4:30pm - 9pm & many stay later depending on how the night is going. The only days the art walk does not take place is during religious holidays due to the church events in the plaza (Good Friday, Christmas or 3 Kings) & if it rains hard and for a long time many folks will stay away.
