TIPS TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY

by Ariana Pinero

I love making jewelry that can be worn every day and my goal is to make pieces that will last, so I came up with some jewelry care recommendations.

BASIC TIPS FOR CARING FOR YOUR JEWELRY:

  1. Remove it before getting into hot tubs or jacuzzis, when exercising or other physical activities and avoid putting lotions, sprays, or chemicals on it.
  2. It's OK if it gets wet, and if needed (and especially after dips in the ocean), you can clean your jewelry with mild soap and rinse with fresh water.
  3. Use a jewelry cloth to clean and brighten the metal.

Gold-plated jewelry (like the gold-plated PR charms) require a little more love because over time the gold can wear off if not handled with care. To ensure your gold plated items last, make sure your hands are clean & free of lotions, perfumes, sunscreen, etc. before handling your charm. Avoid getting these things on the charm, & if you need to clean it, simply use water & mild soap - a shower will do the trick.

Final thoughts...

Remember that sea glass, opals, and shells can chip or break, so treat them with care! It's ok to never want to take your jewelry off, but if it's something you really love & care for, be extra careful to make sure it doesn't get lost or damaged when you're playing & having fun!
